How Do I Know If I Have Trapped Emotions?

5 Signs Your Body Might Be Trying to Tell You Something

In energy healing, we understand that emotions are meant to move.
The word emotion is derived from the Latin word emovere, meaning “to move.” But when a strong emotion isn’t fully processed—because it felt too overwhelming, inconvenient, or unsafe at the time—it can get stored in the body’s energy field.

These trapped emotions stay stuck and can silently influence your mood, decisions, physical health, and relationships.

Here are 5 common signs that your body may be carrying emotional energy that’s creating negative results.

1. You Overreact, Absorb Others’ Emotions, or Feel Like a Stranger in Your Own Relationships

Have you ever found yourself snapping at someone you love, sinking into sadness, spiraling into rage, or shutting down emotionally—and then thinking,
“That’s not who I am... Why do I always react like this?”

Maybe you say something in the heat of the moment that you instantly regret. You keep repeating behaviors that don’t match who you want to be. You know better—but something takes over. And afterward, you’re left feeling ashamed, frustrated, or even afraid of your own reactions.

This gap between who you are at your core and how you sometimes show up is one of the clearest signs that trapped emotions are running the show.

These emotions may live in your subconscious for years, influencing your:

  • Mood

  • Triggers

  • Reactions

  • Relationship dynamics

You might notice patterns like:

  • Blowing up over small things that shouldn’t bother you

  • Shutting down during confrontation

  • Feeling instantly defensive, overwhelmed, or ashamed

  • Saying or doing things that feel completely out of character

Afterward, you think:

  • “That’s not how I want to handle things.”

  • “I don’t even like that version of me.”

  • “Why can’t I just stay calm?”

This kind of reactivity can also show up in close relationships—where you feel like you're constantly butting heads with your partner, or suddenly feel triggered by your mom, sister, or a close friend.

You may wonder:

  • Why does my mom drive me crazy now when she didn’t before?

  • Why do I overreact to my partner's tone?

  • Why can’t I seem to have a calm, normal conversation with this person anymore?

It’s usually not them—it’s what they’re triggering in you. You may be carrying trapped emotions like betrayal, resentment, control, abandonment, or rejection. These create energetic patterns that keep you reactive, guarded, or emotionally exhausted.

Once these emotional “cords” are untangled through energy healing, you begin to respond like “you” again.

2. Recurring Physical Pain or Tension That Won’t Go Away

Trapped emotions don’t just affect how you feel emotionally—they often manifest in the physical body.

You might have a nagging ache that you can’t explain. Maybe it’s shoulder tension that won’t go away, hip pain that flares up during stress, or plantar fasciitis that lingers even with rest and treatment.

These are not random. The body stores emotional energy in specific areas:

  • Shoulders carry emotional burden and responsibility. If you often feel like you’re holding everything together for everyone else, that weight may manifest physically.

  • Hips relate to safety, support, and forward movement. Pain here can reflect fear of change, insecurity, or emotional stagnation.

  • Feet (especially plantar fasciitis) are connected to grounding and direction. Pain can reflect pressure, fear of moving forward, or feeling unsupported in life.

Your pain is your body’s way of sending a message. When we ignore emotional roots, symptoms can linger or worsen. But when we release the trapped energy, the body often begins to heal—sometimes rapidly.

3. You Feel Stuck, Blocked, or Held Back—Even Though You Have Big Dreams

You have a vision for your life.

Maybe it’s starting a business, moving to your dream home, or transitioning to a career that actually excites you. You know what you want.

But you don’t take action.
You stay where you are.
You settle.

This is often because part of you is afraid to let go of what’s good enough, in case the unknown turns out worse.

You tell yourself:

  • “It’s not the right time.”

  • “What if I regret it?”

  • “I should be grateful—other people have it worse.”

Underneath, you may be carrying:

  • Fear of regret (“What if I mess everything up?”)

  • Fear of success (“What if I can’t handle it?”)

  • Fear of abandonment (“What if others don’t come with me?”)

  • Inherited beliefs about staying small or not rocking the boat

You might not even know these blocks exist until you try to grow… and feel completely frozen.

Energy healing can gently release these fears and subconscious limitations—so you can finally step into the life you want to create.

4. You Keep Repeating the Same Habits and Patterns—Even When You Want to Change

Maybe it’s a relationship you know isn’t good for you.
Maybe it’s your health—you start eating clean, working out, feeling great… and then suddenly, it all falls apart.

You promise to start again on Monday… only to fall off track again by Wednesday.

This cycle of self-sabotage isn’t about willpower—it’s about emotional energy that hasn’t been released.

You may be holding onto:

  • Shame from past failures

  • Subconscious beliefs that you don’t deserve to feel good

  • A fear that success will bring pressure, judgment, or more responsibility

These are not “bad habits”—they’re coping strategies your nervous system learned to help you survive difficult emotions.

For example:

  • If you grew up being criticized or compared, self-improvement might feel emotionally unsafe.

  • If you used food or distraction to cope in the past, you might default to those under stress.

  • If you carry failure or unworthiness, your body may resist success—even if you consciously want it.

Energy healing helps you clear the emotions tied to perfectionism, procrastination, and self-sabotage—so you can follow through with ease, not force.

5. You’ve Tried Everything—But Still Don’t Feel Better

Maybe you’ve been to therapy, journaled, meditated, exercised, eaten all the right foods, and read all the self-help books.

But something still feels off.

That “something” is often trapped emotional energy. Because no matter how much mindset work you do, if the subconscious is still holding on to fear, pain, or outdated beliefs, your system will stay stuck.

Until that energy is released from your body, it continues to influence how you think, feel, and live.

You Can Make a Change

If any of these signs resonate with you, your body may be showing you that it’s time to release what’s no longer serving you.

The Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code are powerful tools that help identify and clear emotional blocks gently and effectively.

You don’t have to force change. You don’t have to keep pushing.
Your body already knows what it’s ready to release—my role is to help you find it and let it go.

If you’re curious about how energy healing works, or you’re ready to feel lighter, clearer, and more like yourself again, I’d love to support you.
